Julie grew up in Columbus, Mississippi. She earned a BA in Foreign Language in 2000 and taught high school for a few years. In 2006, she earned an AD in Nursing at Mississippi University for Women and worked at BMH on the IP oncology unit for almost a year. In 2007, she moved to Oregon, where she worked at Salem Hospital Rad Oncology for several years, while also earning a BS in Nursing. In 2010, she was recruited to help build a GYN Oncology Program at SH in collaboration with OHSU. In 2012, she returned to school, and in 2014, she completed a MS in Nursing from University of Cincinnati.
Prior to joining Oregon Oncology Specialists, she worked as a NP Lead and Clinical Director at SH in the Palliative Care Department, where she served as their first supervisor and helped build the Pal Care OP Clinic. In 2019, she accepted a position at Oregon Oncology Specialists as Director of Clinical Excellence and Research and built the Research Program. In 2020, she was appointed Incident Commander to lead the organization through the global pandemic. Today, as Director of Clinical Excellence and Research, she has built a strong research team and diverse trial portfolio and builds programs to support novel therapies, such as BiSpecifics and Theranostics, as standard of care therapy and in the research space.
