As Avacare’s Vice President of Medical Operations, Dr. Leslie Clapp brings a wealth of research experience to her role, having most recently led a global team of medical researchers as V.P. of Medical Services at IQVIA Biotech. Her professional experience spans more than 35 years of combined clinical practice and industry experience, including patient care, academia, clinical research and drug development, and trial execution. Her broad therapeutic expertise in the industry includes providing guidance to sponsors and/or providing medical oversight of studies in pediatric, internal medicine, women’s health, hematology, neurology, and rare disease indications. Dr. Clapp received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and, as a board[1]certified pediatrician, is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics AAP Her clinical insight derives from a distinguished clinical practice and academic medical career as the founder and managing partner of Main Pediatrics in Buffalo, New York, and as a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
As a former voting member of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee, she provided guidance and recommendations on the safety of changing patient access to medications from prescription to over-the-counter status. Dr. Clapp has received scores of awards recognizing excellence in medicine, including The Buffalo News Citizen of the Year Award and the State University of New York at Buffalo Outstanding Woman in Medicine Award.
