Shannon has over 20 years of research experience in a variety of roles. She began her research career as a clinical assistant and then a study coordinator at a phase 1 site, and then moved into a CRA role for a small pharma company. She began working as a CRA for Merck studies in 2007 and later managed a team of CRAs, including overseeing a program to train experienced study coordinators to become CRAs. In 2019, Shannon began her role in clinical systems implementation, and as the business system owner of SIP at Merck. Shannon works with global operations teams and IT at Merck, the SIP vendor Cognizant, and other sponsor companies using SIP. She leads a team to implement portal systems at Merck, and drives for continuous improvement.
