Rima Darwiche, the 2023 Women In Leadership Awardee from BioMelbourne Network, is a highly accomplished professional with a passion for improving patient access to life-saving therapies. Holding a Bachelor of Medical Science in Immunology from the University of Melbourne and a PhD scholarship, Rima transitioned to a career in pharmacy to connect with patients directly. With extensive experience collaborating with pharmaceutical companies and medical research across multiple regions, she founded Central Pharmacy Logistics (CPL) Australia, which pioneered the first Direct-To-Patient investigational drug delivery system in Australia. Rima is dedicated to ensuring all patients, especially in rural and indigenous communities, have access to the healthcare they deserve. She works with global companies like BAYER, Thermofisher and Marken UPS and is actively involved in clinical trial advisory committees and regulatory groups. Rima’s career also includes contributions to medical research, including over 25 publications in prestigious journals, and an advisory role at WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research). Her personal journey, shaped by immigrant experiences and overcoming adversity, drives her commitment to helping others discover their potential.
