Christine Packer is the Senior Manager, SKILLED internship & Regional Advisor at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Alliance (VCCC Alliance), located in Melbourne. The VCCC Alliance is a powerful partnership between 10 leading research, academic and clinical institutions working together to expedite and amplify leading-edge cancer research, knowledge and expertise to improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
Christine is a registered nurse and clinical nurse consultant with over 30 years clinical, health service and program management experience and holds; The Institute of Nursing Administrators of NSW and ACT – Advanced Management Skills for Nurse Executives Certificate; NSW Clinical Excellence Commission – Clinical Leadership Certificate; Master of Health Service Management qualification (2002); and The Knowledge Academy Melbourne Vic – PRINCE 2 Certificate in Project Management (2019). Her career pathway transitioned to the cancer sector in 2005 holding numerous senior leadership roles including; Cancer Services Development Manager – Greater Southern Area Health Service (NSW); Strategic Manager – Hume Regional Integrated Cancer Service (Vic); Victorian Regional Trials Network Project Manager responsible for development and implementation of the Regional Trials Network-Vic successfully building the strategic partnership of seven clinical trial units operating in regional Victoria in conjunction with Cancer Trials Australia to improve access to high quality cancer clinical trials; and in 2018 held the position of Manager, Workforce Development and in 2021 was appointed to the role of Senior Manager, Regional Innovations & SKILLED Internship Program – VCCC Alliance leading the further development of the clinical trial SKILLED internship program which offers scientists a pathway into the Clinical Trials industry as well as advising on a program of work focused on improving cancer outcomes in the regions.
