Gisela Martinez is a distinguished research professional with over 20 years of expertise in clinical research. Her career is marked by a series of progressively responsible roles at the country, regional, and headquarters levels, showcasing her leadership and dedication to advancing the field.
Gisela’s journey began in Australia, where she excelled in various country positions, including trial operations, data management, and monitoring. Her exceptional performance led to her relocation to the company’s headquarters in the USA. As the APAC Regional Operations Director, Gisela was instrumental in developing strategies, leading process improvement initiatives, and supporting the APAC region in delivering a comprehensive clinical research portfolio.
Gisela returned to Australia to take on the roles of APAC and EMEA Regional Clinical Quality Management Director, APAC Regional Operations Head, and currently serves as the Clinical Research Director for Australia and New Zealand. Her leadership in these positions has been pivotal in driving high performance and achieving strategic and operational goals in the region.
Gisela holds bachelor’s degrees in nursing and science from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), an Executive Sigma Sponsor and Certified Clinical Research Professional with ACRP. Her academic background and certifications underscore her commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
Beyond her professional achievements, Gisela has made significant contributions to various initiatives. She has led the Asia Pacific Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) Women’s Network, served as an Ambassador for MSD for Mothers, and is a member of the GCTO Diversity Equity & Inclusion global Council.
