Betsy Moclair, RN, CCRC, MBA is the Senior Director of Clinical Research Programs in Neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital. She develops, implements, and oversees all research programs, including sponsor and federally funded clinical trials, investigator-initiated trials, specimen collection research, and retrospective and prospective chart reviews.
Betsy began her career as a registered nurse in the maternity and labor room at United Hospital in Port Chester, NY. She also served as a labor and delivery educator for the low-income Hispanic community. Her first experience in research was as a Research Nurse in infectious diseases, where she was introduced to good clinical practices, protocols, adverse events, and regulatory issues. She spent the majority of her career at a private research center, starting as a study coordinator and eventually becoming the Director of Clinical Trials. Her specialties have included infectious diseases, urology, dermatology, gynecology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, orthopedics, cardiology, internal medicine, and now neurosurgery.
Betsy earned her certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator from the ACRP in 2005. She is a member of the Hofstra Advisory Committee for Student Research and the Northwell Clinical Trials Advisory Committee. Additionally, she serves as a mentor at the Office of Clinical Research at Northwell and as a project coordinator for the Northwell Strokenet neurosurgery and neurology affiliation.
Betsy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Pace University and an MBA in Strategic Health Care from Hofstra University. She lives in New York with her husband, two sons, and Parker, the Bernedoodle.
