Gisela Martinez is a highly accomplished clinical research leader with more than 25 years of experience across country, regional, and global roles. She currently serves as Clinical Research Director for Australia and New Zealand, where she leads the clinical study portfolio with a strong focus on quality, compliance, strategic execution, and operational excellence. Her career began in Australia in trial operations, data management, and monitoring, where she developed deep expertise in the foundations of clinical research and built a reputation for disciplined delivery and trusted leadership. This strong platform led to broader regional and global opportunities, including a move to the United States and senior leadership roles across Asia Pacific, where she served as APAC Regional Operations Director, APAC and EMEA Regional Clinical Quality Management Director, and APAC Regional Operations Head. Across these roles, Gisela has been recognised for combining strategic vision with practical execution, leading high-performing teams, advancing process improvement, and enabling the successful delivery of complex research portfolios that improve patient outcomes. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Science, is a Project Management Institute–certified Project Management Professional (PMP), an Executive Sigma Sponsor, and an Association of Clinical Research Professionals Certified Professional. Beyond her operational leadership, Gisela has made significant contributions to culture and inclusion through roles supporting women, future talent, and diversity initiatives, including leadership in the Asia Pacific Merck Research Laboratories Women’s Network, MSD for Mothers, and the GCTO Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Global Council.
