Dr. Ignacio MacKinnon has spent the past 20 years at the forefront of clinical research site at Instituto de Investigaciones Clínicas Mar del Plata, creating and leading a high-performing research organization dedicated to improve clinical trials performance.

He is a physician, clinical researcher, Co-Founder and CEO of the site, which since 2006 conducted more than 400 Phase II–IV studies across nine therapeutic areas with a team of nearly fifty professionals. He has led 28 studies and co-authored 31 publications.

He earned his Medical Degree from Universidad del Salvador, Buenos Aires in 1995 and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Hospital Privado de Comunidad in Mar del Plata, where he later served as Chief Resident, Instructor, and Staff Physician. He has led clinical research since 2001, founding both the Clinical Trials Unit and the Hypertension Unit at that hospital.

In 2014, he also create Fundación Desfibrilar, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives by strengthening the chain of survival.

Outside of work, his passions include rugby and working in nature. He lives on the outskirts of Mar del Plata with his wife Georgina and their five children, to whom he credits his greatest achievements.
