Joe Salmon is a Lead Research Nurse with extensive experience across a range of mental health and forensic care settings. Since qualifying as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Joe has worked in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs), forensic services, acute wards, liaison psychiatry, and research teams, building a strong foundation in complex clinical care and multidisciplinary collaboration. Early in his career, Joe worked as a support worker on inpatient wards, gaining valuable frontline experience that continues to shape his person-centred and compassionate approach to practice. Over time, he has developed an expertise in supporting individuals, ensuring safe, dignified, and evidence-based care. In his current role as Lead Research Nurse, Joe is committed to advancing high-quality clinical research and improving representation across under-researched populations. He is especially passionate about learning disability research, advocating for greater inclusion, co creation with communities, and equitable access to research opportunities. Driven, collaborative, and research-focused, Joe is dedicated to promoting innovative studies that enhance outcomes for patients, strengthen clinical practice, and support the development of robust, patient centred evidence within mental health and learning disability care.
