Dr. Muhammed Y. Idris is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Public Health at Morehouse School of Medicine, where he also serves as Assistant Director leading digital transformation initiatives within the Clinical Research Center. He is the founding Co-Director of the Center for Digital Health, where his work focuses on the design, validation, and implementation of responsible AI and digital tools to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. Trained as a computational social scientist, Dr. Idris applies advanced methods in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and data science to develop adaptive Behavioral Intervention Technologies (BITs) for chronic disease self-management, using natural language processing to analyze patient-provider interactions, and evaluating the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to to streamline clinical trial operations. Before entering academia, Dr. Idris led interdisciplinary teams in industry and humanitarian sectors, including roles at Garmin, St. Luke’s Health System, and the United Nations Refugee Agency, where he built and deployed machine learning solutions in complex, real-world environments.
