Rima Darwiche is BioMelbourne Network’s Women in Leadership Awardee in 2023, a testament to the dedication and innovation driving her endeavours. Rima studied Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne with a major in Immunology. She was awarded a PhD scholarship from the University of Melbourne; however, Rima chose to study Bachelor of Pharmacy as her desire to interact with patients and provide care was what she always wanted. With decades of experience working in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies and medical research spanning APAC, USA, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Rima has embarked on an entrepreneurship journey by setting up a TGA & Pharmacy Authority licensed service to give all patients access to life-saving investigational therapies regardless of their geographical location in regional and rural communities. Rima has been able to take the traditional centralized model of clinical trials and create Central Pharmacy Logistics (CPL) Australia, a clinical drug trial service set up to provide a revolutionary Direct-To-Patient investigational product delivery, the first of its kind in Australia. Rima wanted to bring a health model to all patients in regional and indigenous townships, so that all patients have access to the health care they deserve. Rima has worked with the Federal and State government regulators to establish CPL, a business that places Australia on an international platform for global companies to invest in our country. CPL’s current pipeline includes Global companies including Thermofisher (Fisher Clinical), Marken UPS and Biotechnology companies that are listed on the NASDAQ and the ASX. Rima is currently involved in several clinical trial advisory committees locally and globally and represents APAC for a Clinical Regulatory Group in the USA. She is also a Lecturer for the Graduate Certificate of Clinical Trial Operations at Macquarie University.
