Ruth Lucas is a proficient clinical research professional with over 20 years of experience in clinical trials, including extensive expertise across all phases of research, from first-in-human (Phase I) to large-scale Phase IV studies, with knowledge of the New Zealand clinical research environment and experience spanning Asia-Pacific and Europe. Throughout her career, Ruth has always put emphasis on training and mentoring colleagues as well as supporting trial sites, developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Ruth has held roles within small and large CROs, pharmaceutical companies, and as an independent contractor in New Zealand and Australia. Her experience includes monitoring and project management services, as well as leading the largest public oncology research unit in New Zealand, which housed both an oncology-specific Phase I unit and late-phase research programs. Her diverse experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of clinical research operations. In September 2022, Ruth joined BioValeo, a boutique New Zealand-based CRO, as the Chief Operating Officer and a founding member of the senior leadership team. In 2024, she assumed the role of President of the New Zealand Association for Clinical Research (NZACRes), a professional organization representing clinical researchers across the country. Through NZACRes, Ruth is committed to fostering collaboration, networking, and training opportunities while strengthening national and international ties in clinical research.
