Sean Stanton has spent the past 28 years at the forefront of clinical research site development, creating and leading high-performing research organizations dedicated to improving public health through innovation. As co-founder of K2 Medical Research, Sean leads a team of dedicated researchers focused on connecting groundbreaking clinical solutions with the health challenges facing communities today.

Over his career, Sean has spearheaded the launch of 26 clinical trial sites, six inpatient hospitals, and 19 outpatient clinics. Under his leadership, these sites have conducted over 5,000 clinical trials, contributing to the approval of more than 50 medications across diverse therapeutic areas including general medicine, mental health, neurodegenerative diseases, oncology, vaccines, women’s health, diabetes, pain management, heart disease, and sleep disorders.

A strategic thinker and skilled problem-solver, Sean has deep expertise in all facets of clinical site operations—from procurement and resource management to applying benchmarking and metrics to guide business planning and drive sustainable growth. He is a highly sought-after speaker and advisor in the industry, known for his insights into clinical trial site development, patient recruitment (including hard-to-reach populations), study optimization, protocol design, and patient-reported outcomes. His strategic counsel is frequently enlisted by hospitals and institutions navigating site growth, mergers, and acquisitions.

After earning his degree from the University of Cincinnati, Sean joined a team of leading industry experts and never looked back. His passion for clinical research and organizational leadership is evident in his relentless pursuit to make clinical trials accessible as a standard care option for all. Known for his infectious enthusiasm and people-first leadership style, Sean’s charisma and entrepreneurial drive have been central to his success in building thriving enterprises and high-performing teams.

Sean also lends his expertise through service on several influential boards. He is a Trustee at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA, a founding member of the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaboration (DAC), a board member of the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center in Central Florida, Strategic Advisor to the Global Alzheimer’s Platform (GAP), and a member of the CEO organization. He also serves on the board of directors for the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

Outside of work, Sean is an accomplished cyclist, competing nationally with his K2-sponsored team of 35 riders. He lives in Winter Park, Florida with his wife of 21 years, Charlet, who he credits as a key to his success. Together, they have four children—currently attending Baylor University, Indiana University, and NYU.
