Dr Suzanne Hasthorpe leads the Coordinating Office for Clinical Trials Research (Coordinating Office) at Safer Care Victoria, Department of Health. She has extensive experience in ethics, research governance and management of new programs to build clinical trials and research systems and capability for better health outcomes. Inter-governmental projects managed for Victoria, includes being a founding member of the National Mutual Acceptance scheme with Queensland and New South Wales. Current programs managed by the Coordinating Office include: A framework to streamline clinical trials and research Implementation of a national Teletrials program in Victoria as a partner in a Medical Research Future Fund program, the Australian Teletrial Program.
Working with the Australian Government on clinical trials reform projects under the ‘Encouraging more clinical trials in Australia’ initiative, including the One Stop Shop and accreditation ethics committees under an expanded National Mutual Acceptance scheme.
Previously Suzanne was a medical research fellow at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and worked overseas in Europe for four years.
