Tips for Presenters

Panel Preparation
The Summit Prep call is designed to help all of our speakers understand how the sessions will run, how to utilize the technology, access their session, and run their session.

SCRS strongly requests that session speakers and panelists convene and discuss how their session will flow. It is up to the speakers themselves to arrange this discussion. We request that the facilitator schedule this prep call to develop 2-3 relevant talking points before the presentation.

Panelist Role
As the panelist, you will provide your unique perspectives on the topic while engaging the audience to identify solutions.

Panel Introductions: When introducing yourself, please share your name, title, company, and briefly explain why you were selected for this session. Given the restricted one-hour timeframe, please ensure efficient time management to accommodate the content adequately.

Facilitator Role
As the facilitator, you will introduce yourself, the topic, and the speakers on the panel. Share the goals and set the ground rules at the beginning of the session. Your responsibility will be to participate and manage the conversation and questions to ensure a stimulating conversation between you, the audience, and the panel.

Suggestions for Oral Presentations

The goal of Summit breakout sessions is to stimulate conversation among all attendees and arrive at Best Site Practices through solution-oriented discussion.

  • Come prepared with information to dive deep on your topic and have questions ready to pose to the audience.
    • Share the goals and set the ground rules at the beginning of the session:
    • Encourage participation so that all voices are welcomed and heard.
    • Keep discussions constructive and focused on solutions, not grievances.
  • Guide the conversation:
    • Manage the conversation and questions among the speaker(s) and attendees to keep the discussion flowing.
    • Keep the conversation focused on solutions; avoid complaints or negative commentary.
    • Offer your expertise without promoting specific organizations or products.
    • Feel free to interject if the conversation needs to be realigned.
