Amy M. Overby is the Senior Director of the Clinical Trials Office at Winship Cancer Institute, the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Georgia. She joined Winship, Emory University in 2020 and is responsible for providing expertise and strategic direction to all aspects of cancer specific clinical research supported by the Winship Clinical Trials Office across 10 affiliate sites. In her role as Senior Director, Overby is responsible for the oversight and leadership of clinical trials operations for 10 departments supporting the lifespan of a clinical trial, trial development, finance, strategic planning, personnel and community partnerships and outreach.
Overby joined Winship from the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she served as the associate director for research administration and director of the clinical research office. During her tenure, she served as executive director of the New Mexico Cancer Care Alliance (NMCCA), a statewide network based at the cancer center and dedicated to ensuring all residents of New Mexico have access to cancer clinical trials. Overby co-founded BioScience Vaccines, Inc., a life science company that commercialized a novel adjuvant technology aimed at improving oncology and influenza vaccine safety and effectiveness. While serving on the board of directors and as vice president of operations, she oversaw business and operational development for the company as well as the commercialization of a cutting-edge technology that improved vaccine products for human and veterinary use in Phase 0-III trials.
