Dr. Michael Caldwell is a physician and researcher whose career spans clinical research, public health and industry medical affairs. He has served as Principal Investigator on studies across vaccines, infectious disease, obesity, and cardiovascular disease, with particularly extensive vaccine experience covering influenza, Covid-19, RSV, Lyme disease, HPV, HIV, Herpes and combination vaccine programs, including Phase III trials in both adult and pediatric populations.
His industry background includes senior roles in vaccine research and medical affairs with GSK and AstraZeneca/MedImmune, complementing more than two decades of experience in clinical research and population health. He served as Director of Public Health & Chief Medical Officer for Nashville during the first year of the Covid pandemic, leading the local public health response; and he served as the chief of health security for the October 22, 2020, Presidential Debate between President Trump and then-Vice President Biden held at Belmont University in Nashville, the final debate before the 2020 Presidential election.
