Sean Stanton has dedicated more than 30 years to building high-performing clinical research organizations and improving clinical trial execution. He has led the start-up of 27 clinical trial sites, six inpatient research hospitals and 19 outpatient clinics. These organizations have conducted more than 5,000 clinical trials and contributed to over 50 drug approvals across neuroscience, general medicine, vaccines, diabetes, obesity, pain, mental health, cardiovascular disease, oncology and neurodegenerative diseases.
A pioneer in patient recruitment, Sean was at the forefront of direct-to-consumer clinical trial advertising in the 1990s and an early innovator in patient pre-screening to improve recruitment and reduce screen-failure rates. He has advised pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and research organizations on site development, recruitment, protocol design, growth and M&A.
Sean is Co-Founder and CEO of K2 Medical Research, a clinical research organization with a major commitment to Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegeneration. Previously, he co-founded Compass Research, which grew into one of the largest independent research sites in the U.S. before its acquisition by Bioclinica.
Sean is a founding member of the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative and has served as a Strategic Advisor to the Global Alzheimer’s Platform and C2N Diagnostics.
His commitment to Alzheimer’s is deeply personal. His wife lost both grandfathers and an uncle to the disease. With four children and a family history of dementia, Sean has made changing the future of Alzheimer’s a life mission.
Sean began his career in neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati.
