Silvia Iglesias is a Quality Assurance Officer at Cancer & Blood Research, Auckland City Hospital, where she provides quality oversight for an extensive portfolio of local and international oncology clinical trials. Since joining the unit in 2021, she has played a key role in internal and external audits, CAPA management, and quality management reviews, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ethical standards. She actively contributes to SOP and policy development, supports clinical research teams in maintaining high-quality standards, and leads training initiatives to strengthen research capabilities.
Silvia is actively involved in continuous improvement projects and clinical trial set-up, including ethics submissions. Her work focuses on strengthening governance, compliance, and operational excellence in clinical research. She has recently introduced the use of artificial intelligence in the unit to support the administrative aspects of clinical trials.
Prior to relocating to New Zealand, Silvia held academic and research roles at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she earned her PhD in the Pharmacy and Biochemistry area and developed strong expertise in research, teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
She brings over 20 years of experience in both the pharmaceutical industry and academia, with extensive expertise in validation and analytical method development. She has authored 18 peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences, reflecting her strong academic and research background.
